Dr. Nida Chenagtsang
Dr. Nida Chenagtsang is a traditional Tibetan physician and holder of the Yuthok Nyingthig lineage, the unique spiritual healing tradition of Tibetan medicine. He was born in Amdo, northeastern Tibet, and began his first medical studies at the local Tibetan Medicine Hospital. Later, he received a scholarship to enter the Tibetan Medical University of Lhasa, where he completed his medical training in 1996 with practical training in the Tibetan Medical Hospitals of Lhasa and Lhoka. Parallel to his medical training, Dr. Nida trained in Vajrayana with teachers from all schools of Tibetan Buddhism, particularly in the Longchen Nyingthig of the Nyingma School of his root teacher Ani Ngawang Gyaltsen and in the Dudjom Tersar lineage of Chönyid Rinpoche and Sremo Dechen Yudron. He received full teachings in the Yuthok Nyingthig lineage, the unique spiritual tradition of Tibetan medicine, from his teachers Khenpo Tsultrim Gyaltsen and Khenchen Troru Tsenam, and was invited to continue the lineage by Jamyang Rinpoche of the Rebkong ngakpa / ma (non-monastic yogi and yogini) tradition.
A well-known poet in his youth, Dr. Nida later published many articles and books on Sowa Rigpa (traditional Tibetan medicine) and the Yuthok Nyingthig tradition in Tibetan and English languages which have been translated into several languages. He researched extensively the ancient Tibetan healing methods and gained great fame in the East and West for his revival of the little known traditional Tibetan external healing therapies.
Dr. Nida is the co-founder and Medical Director of Sorig Khang International ; co-founder of the Ngakmang International Institute, established to preserve and maintain the non-monastic Rebkong ngakpa Yogi / Ini culture within modern Tibetan society; and co-founder and Medical and Spiritual Director of the Sorig Institute and Pure Land Farms: Center for Tibetan Medicine, Meditation and Rejuvenation in Los Angeles, California. In addition to his work as a physician, he trains students in Sowa Rigpa and the Yuthok Nyingthig tradition in more than forty countries around the world.
